What is Resisting or Obstructing a Peace Officer?

​A person who knowingly resists or obstructs the performance by a person they know to be a Peace Officer commits a Class A Misdemeanor. If convicted, the sentence includes a minimum of 48 hours of imprisonment or 100 hours of community service.
If the person who was convicted was the proximate cause of injury to the Peace Officer, then he or she is guilty of a Class 4 felony. ​
